Stop spinning the wheels; every spin digs the car deeper and melts the snow under the tire into ice. Straighten the steering, turn the hazards on, and if you are on a road, stay in the car with the belt on. Keep the exhaust pipe clear of snow if the engine is running.
How the pull works
The winch line goes to the factory recovery point, never the bumper, and the car comes out in a straight line. Deep snow or soft ground gets traction mats. A car high-centered on a plow ridge is lifted and set back down rather than dragged over it.
Snow nights
The first storm of the season and the morning after the plows are our busiest hours, and dispatch will tell you the real ETA rather than a hopeful one. The rate does not change with the weather and the truck runs 24 hours through the winter.
After you are out
Once the car is on pavement the driver looks underneath. If nothing is leaking or bent, you drive away. If something is, you hear it straight away and can take a tow to your shop with the service call credited against it.

No. The hook goes to the factory recovery points, the pull is a straight line, and the bumper never carries the load. The driver checks underneath afterward.
02How long will you take on a snow night?
Longer than a normal 20 minutes, and dispatch tells you the real number on the call. You get a text with the driver's name and a live ETA as soon as the truck rolls.
03I am in a ditch off the Tollway.
Same call. Give dispatch the interstate, the direction and the nearest exit. A winch-out on a highway shoulder is done with lights on and cones out.
04Do I pay for a tow as well?
Only if the car needs one. Most winch-outs end with you driving away for the price of the service call. If it does need a tow, the service call is credited.
